The Swedish government has expelled a Chinese diplomat following revelations that the Chinese embassy was allegedly involved in spying on political refugees residing in Sweden. 在发现中国大使馆涉嫌对居住在瑞典的政治难民从事间谍活动之后，瑞典政府驱逐了一名中国外交人员。
Shortly after the Sweden ejected the Chinese diplomat, authorities in China retaliated by ordering a Swedish diplomat back to Stockholm, the TT news agency reported on Monday. 中国外交人员被逐出后，作为报复，中国当局随即命令一名瑞典外交人员返回斯德哥尔摩，TT新闻通讯社周一报道说。
“We can confirm that a foreign diplomat has been deported. I’m not going to comment on what country the diplomat is from. The world's largest UFO archive, with over 18,000 Swedish reports, pictures and foreign reports over mysterious happenings was opened to the general public in Norrköping in eastern Sweden on Sunday.

"There was a great interest," said Clas Svahn at UFO Sweden.

A Swedish pilot in a Draken plane was flying over Småland in a training exercise in the 1970s. He received the order to break the exercise and fly towards an unidentified object lying still on the water.

The event which confounded the pilot, is just one of the reports recorded in the world's largest UFO archive in Norrköping in eastern Sweden. It is one of up to 1,000 reports worth taking a closer look at, according to Clas Svahn.

The Swedish UFO association held a series of lectures on Saturday in connection with the temporary opening of the archive.

"175 came to listen and there was a great interest. There were more than we have seen in recent years and there was a serious interest. We are very happy," he said.

There were then around 70 people in Norrköping for the opening of the archive on Sunday.

The archive is now closed once more, as the association works on a voluntary basis and does not have the time to do more than show the archive to, for example, researchers.

A Swedish man was caught up in an attack by Somali pirates on Saturday. The pirates attacked an Italian cruise ship outside of Somalia's coast but were repelled.

The Italian cruise ship Melody was on its way to Aqaba in Jordan when it was attacked by a party of six pirates in a small speed boat and armed with Kalashnikov rifles.

Sweden's unemployment rate climbed to 8.3 percent in March, the fifth consecutive monthly rise and up from 8.0 percent in February, Statistics Sweden (SCB) said on Thursday.

Police have launched a credit card fraud investigation after employees at an Ikea in central Sweden discovered a suspicious device attached to one of the store’s card payment machines.

Around 2pm on Monday afternoon, workers at the Jönköping Ikea alerted police after finding what they believed to be skimming equipment attached to a card reader at one of the store’s self-service check out aisles.

Authorities believe the machine was in place for about four hours on Monday and may have been used to collect credit card information from around 50 customers making legitimate purchases at Ikea.

“We know that between 10am and 2pm it was sitting there: that we’ve been able to determine from surveillance camera footage. Swedes in favour of joining the euro zone now outnumber those against, for the first time, a new survey indicates.

The new survey from Sifo, commissioned by Sveriges Television, shows that 47 percent of Swedes would support joining the euro with 45 percent against.

Police believe that a car crash in southern Sweden in which two young boys died on Good Friday may have been planned by their 37-year-old father, who also died in the frontal collision with a local bus.

Sweden's main banks, some of which have requested state assistance to help cover substantial losses, have rewarded employees for their performance in 2008 with a total of 5.7 billion kronor ($690 million) in bonuses.

The Swedish economy will deteriorate sharply this year. GDP will drop by 3.9 percent and 250,000 jobs will disappear by the end of 2010, according to a new report by the National Institute of Economic Research (KI), published on Tuesday.
